Dr. Amy Watson

Amy Lynne Watson, DC – Owner, Chiropractor

Dr. Amy Watson has been a chiropractor for over ten years, and is the mother of three incredible kids. She graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Psychology. During her own healing journey, she discovered the wonders of chiropractic care. This led her to change her career goal from being a family counselor to becoming a chiropractic physician.

She began chiropractic school in 1999 and had her 1st child midway through the program. This experience helped her learn firsthand about the unique needs of the prenatal and postpartum chiropractic patient. After the birth of her son, she began learning more about chiropractic care for infants. She began focusing on treating moms and babies in the student clinic, began taking craniosacral therapy seminars, and completed her senior internship with Dr. Elise Hewitt, an expert in the field of pediatric chiropractic. She graduated from Western States Chiropractic College in 2003, and worked closely with Dr. Hewitt at Portland Chiropractic Group for two years.

In 2005, she founded Whole Mama ~ Whole Child. She feels incredibly blessed to be living her dream: balancing the magic of motherhood and family time with the joy of working with the hundreds of amazing families at WM~WC.

Anne Tegtmeier – LMT, IBCLC – lactation consultant, massage therapist and chiropractic assistant

Anne began her professional life as a modern dancer. After growing up in Denver and then receiving her BFA in Dance from The Boston Conservatory, magna cum laude, she went on to dance in New York and perform with a number of small companies in New England. Since she had experienced firsthand the benefits of massage and other bodywork on athletic performance, she decided to become a practitioner herself, graduating from the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy in 2001.

Since then, her career as an LMT who specializes in deep tissue techniques has led her to explore a variety of complementary modalities, including Healing Stone Therapy, Thai Massage and Reflexology, as well as continuing her life in movement through teaching dance as well as yoga and Pilates mat classes. Anne is also a Chiropractic Assistant, expanding her ability to work in tandem with our Whole Mama Whole Child doctors.

Anne’s daughter Lily was born in 2008, and through the experience of overcoming significant breastfeeding obstacles, she decided to begin the process of becoming a lactation consultant. Upon moving to Portland in 2011, she enrolled at Birthingway College of Midwifery in their Lactation Science degree program, and became an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) in 2014.  Working with tethered oral tissue (including tongue tie) and finding holistic solutions to common breastfeeding challenges are areas of special interest and experience to Anne.

In her spare time, Anne is also a food blogger, writer, author of two cookbooks – and, of course, mama to Lily.

In addition to general breastfeeding support and education, Anne’s area of special interest and experience include:

  • Tongue tie and other oral restrictions
  • Low supply concerns
  • Induced lactation (i.e. for adoptive nursing) and relactation
  • Food intolerances and gut health
  • Pumping for returning to work/exclusive pumping moms
  • Overcoming long-term breastfeeding challenges
  • LGBTQIA friendly

Nahinu James, DC – Chiropractor

Aloha! I am very excited and thankful to be welcomed into the Whole Mama Whole Child team! I grew up in the country on the North Shore of Oahu, and have always had a strong connection to the land and what it is able to provide us, as well as the vast sea that was a big part of my childhood and teen years. I believe that our surroundings can have an extremely large impact on our mental and emotional well-being, and that the constant input that we are bombarded with on a daily basis often manifests itself physically. My primary commitment and focus is to provide effective care so as each patient feels comfortable within their own body. I hope to assist in optimal movement, thus creating a space for you take on the lifestyle that makes YOU happiest.

Although I love sharing chiropractic care with all, my passion lies in pediatric, pregnancy, and postpartum care. I completed my final internship in this specialty with Dr. Amy, and will be working to complete additional training and certification in Craniosacral Therapy and Webster Technique.

I hope to bring love and light to the office community, and am eager to meet all of you and assist in your personal journeys!
